Can I adjust my Throttle cable?

I purchased an 01 TB(ported) and have a 99 ws6, I should of done more research before buying but I was too eager. The sprocket that the cable hooks to is bigger on the 01 so my cable is too short right now, it hold the throttle open, is it possible to adjust my cable to where it is a little longer? Or do i need to get a Ported tb for a 99 specific? thanks for any help you can give me.

Bumping this up since its what I ran into today...

    Bought a P&P TB from a buddy who has a 99 T/A

I have a 2000..There is some play in the pedal and the TB cable itself. The P&P already has the bump stop mod to it done. But I had him give me WOT so I can see the blade and its not where its suppose to be.. Since there is some play with the pedal and cable how do I go about adjusting it so its perfect?

WOT seems like 70% for me.

The throttle body cam on your 99 TB is smaller then the one on the 2000 TB. I believe the throttle cables are also different and you might have to switch cables to get it to work correctly.
But the cable is adjustable. Look for this adjustment point inline on the cable.

not sure if you'll ever be able to loosen it enough to make up for the cam sizes on the TB's......please update the thread though if you get it to work as I'm curious.

So would I just unsnap it and snap it in a different place?

yes essentially thats correct. I think you want to make the cable sleeve longer. That has the effect of making the cable itself tighter/shorter. Confused yet? I could have that backwards but hopefully you will be able to figure it out when its in front of you.

Ok, now do I need someone pressing down the pedal for me to see the blade? Or is this a solo thing.

If you have enough adjustment, just loosen until you have a littlle slack with the TB closed, then take up the slack and put the clip back in - should be simple as that.

Just a thought... Can’t you just swap this out with the one from the stock TB? I know that aftermarket TBs come with 2 different sized ones.

Disregard the enormous boobs in the picture, or don’t, since I ran a search for a pic of LS1 TBs on Google and this one came up so I was like, I have to use it!

Adjusted cable by judging off the pic. Thanks! Goes back to bump stop now.

Will have to adjust again. I ported my stock one I took off & looks a hell of lot better. . Going to decide which one stays/goes.

    2002 T/A WS-6

I took her out for a cruise today, and felt like she just wasnt opening up right. Felt like when I pushed it to the floor it just wasnt fully opening. When I got back to the house I popped the hood and found quite a bit of slack in the cable. (enough that I can pick it up and set it outside of the half circle track its setting in) So I know it needs adjusted, and I head to the computer to see if one of you guys has posted something telling me how and bam I find this thread.

    Great easy enough, right.

I run back out to the garage remove my strut towerbrace cause its under the FRC's (so I was thinking) and trace the entire cable to the firewall and its not there. I come back in for a second look and realize the years your discussing has Traction Control. Mine does not, its a 2002 WS-6. I had the TB changed a few months ago but put her up with running her. I'm sure this is what I need to do. Does anyone know if there is another way to adjust this?? Or am I missing something??

if there is no adjustment on your cable then you need to replace the cable so it compatible with your TB or change your TB so it compatible with the cable. Or I suppose you could just swap out the TB cam/shaft from your old TB to the new TB.
