C5 Question
A few years ago I had a 99 Z28 and if you wanted the engine out of the car you had to drop it out the bottom. I was wondering if that is the case for a 97-04 vette as well or can you pull it out from the top? Also, how much HP with the stock tranny and half shafts hold up too? Does somebody make HD parts for the drivetrain of these cars? Thanks in advance...

Well having worked with Jim Pressley out of Ft. Worth ( Corvettes by Pressley) for the past 25 years...I can tell you it is either or.....you can pull the block out of the top of the engine bay or cut her loose from the bottom after removing all the front end....the answer to your question is it depends on what it is you are doing after the engine is out.....What is it you are doing?

The first weak point in the drivetrain is the clutch (400hp). After that it's the halfshafts (500hp) followed by the rotation of the earth. HD halfshafts are pretty easy to find, I know LPE puts them on their cars a lot.
