    A/C Delete Questions

    What's up guys?
I'm going to remove my whole A/C system since its been shot for the past 3 years.. and I never use it
I want to get some weight reduction and clean up the engine bay a little

I just have a few questions:

Will disconnecting the electrical connector on the compressor throw a code?

Does anyone have a diagram or advise for removing the compressor?

How many bolts do I need to remove and what size socket would I need?

Any tips on removing the condenser?

I biggest problem you will have is the serpentine belt fitment after you remove the compressor. It will not throw any codes when you remove the connector. Do not touch anything under the dash unless you want to remove the entire climate control system. I basic metric and SAE socket set will do. I would not do what you are thinking of doing but that is just me.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

That's not true, they are two separate belts. I have removed my whole HVAC system and it was pretty easy but it takes time. The hardest part was removing that damn heater core and the box attached to the firewall. A BFH works wonders lol.

    Nope.

It is just a couple 15mm bolts IIRC that hold it to the engine through a bracket.

A crap load there are bolts under the dash on the firewall and in the engine bay that need to be removed, a ton were 7mm IIRC.

I just pulled up and separated it from the radiator, that whole hose needs to be removed as well and the condenser needs to be bled, my AC was shot so there was no freon left to vent but if there is be VERY CAREFUL it can blind you and it is illegal to discharge that into the atmosphere.

    Thanks for the input!
    Pretty much answered my concerns

I'm only planning on removing the compressor, condenser, and AC lines...
Not the box in the firewall or the heater core

But the heat should still work as long as I block off the holes from the AC lines right?

I know you can have it still work but I am not sure how since I removed it all.
