    a/c on= stiff clutch pedal?

i went for a day trip the other day, and had the a/c on. I kept the cruise control on for a long time on the highway. When i turned it off and pushed the pedal in to down shift , the pedal felt stiff to push in. After pushing it in a few more times it got softer. Is this normal?

No correlation between the A/C and clutch. Maybe the clutch pedal return spring was binding or hanging up.

well i noticed it's only when i have the ac on. either way then, ac on, or long periods of cruise control on...why would the pedal get stiffer?

Couldn't tell you why it only happens with ac on or after cruise is used for extended time. I have seen a number of m6 f-body's with hard to apply clutch pedals that were all related to the return spring.

In all seriousness, it sounds to me like it may be more of your imagination that the pedal actually being stiff. When I used to go on longer trips (50+ miles) with the cruise set and the car in 6th gear, when I would finally come to a stop, the clutch pedal would always feel stiffer the first time I pushed it in. I don't think it actually was any stiffer, I think it was just how it felt after riding for so long in the car using nothing but the brake and throttle.

As the others said, theoretically there is no correlation between the A/C, cruise control, and clutch. The clutch is a stand-alone system.
