    Bubbling sail panel

My sail panel hasn't started to bubble just yet, but I have noticed in certain light that you can see the outline of the adhesive underneath. I'm going to try and source one from a scrap yard, can anyone tell me if the sail panel from all 4th gen f-bodies (Firebird and Camaro) '93 to '02 is a universal fit?

I don't know the exact answer to that, however from 98-02 would be a safe bet.

I believe Steve is correct. 98-02 are the same part but prior to 98 is just a guess.

i took a sail panel of a 1995 Firebird, and they are the same from 1993 - 2002, i didn't replace my sailpanel yet, but when i heard of this problem (and new they are discontinued), i drove to a junkyard, and got me one, so i can fix this if it's nessesary in the future.
if you get one from a 1998 -2002, you will have the same problem again, cause they used the wrong glue from 1998 -2002.

    The complete roof:

    Cutting wire:

    The panel is removed:

The metal you have to bent, for easy acces with cutting wire.

The underside of the good panel,
Only i have to remove the rest of the adhesive:

pv-camaro - you are wrong on the 98's. The glue problem only effects 99< yrs.

OP - Besides junk yards you have another option.
6Liter Designs is the only place I know that makes replacement sail panels. (Aint't cheap, $500)

Thanks for the link, and you're right $500 plus shipping to the UK is on the expensive side, but it's a back up plan at least.

yes, you are right it only effects the 1999 til 2002
The other option is a 6LE replacement roof, but i have no idea if they fit perfectly
But for me, the biggest problem was, shipping such a huge panel to Europe (a lot of shippingcosts and taxes) and the panel is very fragil).

Shipping such a panel to Europe is almost 400 dollar (oversized package), and taxes in Europe is calculated over the total cost (500 dollar for the panel and 400 dollar shipping),
so this wasn't an option for me

SS Camaro UK: if you search on LS1tech.com and Camaroz28.com, you can read i am not the only one took a panel from a donor car, it is by far the sheapest solution (for sure if you live outside USA), and the car stays "original".

If you use a correct a cutting wire for removing windows, and i preheated the underside of the steel roof (see pictures) with a paintstripper, so the glue gets soft.
I took the panel off the roof in 20 minutes, and about 15 minutes to remove the glue with a shap knife

    2002 WS6 TA

    Hi Guys,

Mike's original query about TA's and Camaros both having the same sail panel....

.....It wasn't specifically answered as the posts went to the years which were
problem free rather that TA/Camaro fitment!

So.... is the sail panel exactly the same on '93-'02 cars or is the TA different
    to a Camaro?

Although the WS6 i have just imported is really a peach of a car with no door cracks,
no dash cracks, no headlight or window issues it DOES have some bubbling and
sometime down the line it will need to get addressed!

    Thanks guys
