blue smoke, HELP!
have 01 SS with 61000miles, always driven easy, we bought and drivin hard. Changed oil from GM reg to amzoil syn and then changed exhaust, Car has been to redline few times, now smokes when idling after warms up.
Checked comp all about 170-175 except cyl 5 which was 180 and had black fouled plug. I plan to change valve stem seals as first approach, I'd have to any way if I freshen up engine.
Your comments please

In my experience with 3rd Gens, the indicator of valve-seals going is smoke on start-up that goes away. Your blue smoke after warm-up sounds more like a ring issue...

go to the last sticky in the general help section. Sarge, being the man that he is, scored ls1.com members a discount on auto rx. go to their website and read up. it cleans out you engine, and it does it safely. a stuck ring is a ring that is not expanding as it should, so it is not sealing off your cylinder and can let oil buy and so forth. i would try auto rx tho, it might help and it would be alot cheaper than takin apart you engine
