    blowby

I have a ton of oil smoke coming out my exhaust, valve covers and dipstick under hard acceleration and revving. would a catch can help to eliminate some of the smoke caused from the blowby. The car also has a loud tick, probably lifter. could a bad lifter cause blowby? thanks

A lifter won't have anything to do with your blow by issues. Catch can's not going to help either. Could have a broken ring or any number of things. Either way, don't think you'll fix it without a tear down. Sorry.

When is the last time you have checked or changed your oil? Is it white or milky? If not, chances are more on the rings or something internal. Check your oil, pull the plugs and conduct a compression test on all cylinders.

Blow by can sometimes be a sign of a worn out engine..

I also agree with what others have stated here..

Are you forced induction? "Blow by" is a term commonly used in FI..

If you have oil coming out of your dip stick tube you have deeper problems (imho) leak down/blow by that bad won't/can't be fixed with a catch can..
