Thumbs down Bizaare Fuel Gauge Issue after adding Techron

I added a bottle of Techron to my tank when it was near empty (fuel light was on) and then filled up with 93 Octane Texaco. I have some engine ping so I thought I would try the Techron to see if it helps. Now my gas gauge is either stuck on max full, or it hovers between 85% Full and Max Full. Did the Techron somehow mess up my fuel float ? I thought this stuff was supposed to FIX gas gauge issues , not cause them Every time I start the car, the needle shoots back up to max full when I know it probably around 70% full (or less)

My understanding is that the sulfer content in fuel is what causes problems with gauge sending units. I have used Techron in just about all of our cars without any problem for the past 2 years. Like you stated, with the tank heading toward empty, pour in the Techron and then add enough fuel so you have approximately 12 gallons total in the tank. Drive the car until the tank is near empty again before re-filling to allow the additive to do its thing. No clue why your gauge acted up.
