Bad catalytic converters. Any Suggestions?

So. . I failed emmisions and the codes that popped up were the catalytic converters. BOTH OF EM!! 0420 & 0430. So. . I was told that each new would run me close to 500 a piece from a guy at a econo lube. Went to thunder racing and found em for 178 a piece. WTF???
Question is if I am going to replace the cats then what else should I do at the same time if I am planning to get a new exhaust and long tube headers?? Would love to hear what any of you think about true duals vs. like a borla or similar. Or what you would do in my situation. Any help here is appreciated. Thanks.

I take it you're past the 8yr/80K warranty. What type of inspection? If they just read codes only maybe you could get them turned off/get 02 sims until you redo the exhaust. Just an idea, don't have to deal with them here in Florida.

I just put long tubes on with Y pipe. Cats were in the set up. Bolted to a Borla. Sounds awsome and it will solve your cat problem.

If you don't have state emission testing just get rid of them and do the O2 simms.
