any ideas welcome
hay guys
i DD my z to work these days but for the last 2 weeks my converter will unlock about the same place on the way home in the morning.
not every day was about 1 or 2 times a week, now its doing it more.
i have noticed if the roads are wet or heavy fog its more,it is not throwing any codes, and when it unlocks i can plug up the predator and use the clear codes and it will lock up again.
i have been watching the misfires and the engine cycle counter is all over the place goes from 2 to 69,also cylinder 5 will read 0 then 6 or 8 and 2,3,4 will read 2 sometimes,i pulled the plug on 5 and it looked a tad lean.
i have not checked the fuel pressure yet, fuel pump has 88,000 miles on it.
also do you think the C.P.S sensor is going bad ?
my cylinder mode misfire threshold maxes out, what is this ?
the plugs and wires are new about 5000 miles
BTW,the car still friggin screams,no bog or hesitation anywere-will smoke the tires all day long
mods,
ls6 intake
lid,free ram air
no cats,off road y
magnaflow catback
3.42 gears
3400 stall
msd wires tr-55 plugs
air,egr removed
here is a predator log file if anybody can read it,any ideas welcome, this problem is out of my league,i can wrench but troubleshooting on these new cars sucks.

from what i have read it may be.
low fuel pressure or bad injectors
bad plugs
bad wires
bad coils
guess ill get a pressuse guage, change the plugs and wires
that dont work look into checking coils

How do you know its unlocking? What RPM are you at when it unlocks? How much throttle are you giving it? If your not throwing any codes then im not sure resetting it with a handheld would do anything.
Have you tried hooking it up to a real diagnostic tool and not the Handheld?
I tried the link you posted, No workie
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....

Unless you have proper tuning for that converter, it is almost certainly the issue. The false misfires need to be tuned out at a minimum to restore normal cruise lockup. You cannot tune for the converter with that handheld.

thanks anyway but the problem is the crap ass fuddle converter
today it started with a vary harsh shudder and vibe, ran it by my tranny guy and he agreed, its trash.
has had a small vibe at high speed from day 1,but now its extream.
pulling it out tommorow and swaping back in the 2200 old converter for now.
dont anybody buy a fuddle, they are crap.
btw had the converter in for 4 months,it ran great up until 3 days ago, except for the high speed vibe
it was not ballenced correct from the get go.Last edited by lovedrvr; 08-18-2009 at 03:16 AM.

The fuddle units need different tuning to basically make them on or off (lockup), they commonly act kind of crappy with stock modulation for engagement and I have seen more than one fail like yours. That still doesn't change the fact that without specific tuning, you can't be sure that lockup problems aren't PCM related because you will get them intermittently. The mass of the converter interferes with the OEM misfire detection. Some people get by for a while, some have issues from the start.
I have seen more Fuddle stalls fail by a factor of about 4x than any other brand (including TCI, which are next on the list of stalls I wouldn't buy for myself...)Last edited by Frost; 08-19-2009 at 11:13 AM.

thanks frost
tuning was not the issue my trans is not stock.
its custom built does not have the stock modulation for the lockup,or any stock parts.
it does not pulse, and lockup felt just like a gear

I've had my fuddle for 2.5-3 years and haven't had any issues with it really. I don't think it stalls to where it should but mechanically it's worked fine. I was in on that first GP they did...maybe I've just been lucky
The unlocking you were describing definitely sounds like a tuning issue. Very common with aftermarket stalls.

I've said this a few times recently too, but for the last year or two, everytime a customer of mine has a problem like this, the trans builder points at the converter and the converter people point at the trans. No one seems to be able to get things warrantied properly anymore because of this...

Gotta love trans shops......really bottom feeders if you ask me. I"VE never been to a honest trans shop...even the so called "Christian run " shops will rip you off.
By the way i worked in a few trans shops so i know what i'm talking about....they ALL have a extensive EXCUSE book on hand they work out of......and can do no wrong. They are "Christians" ya know< BIGGEST CROCK OF CRAP EVER. If you see that in their advertising get ready to get "CORNHOLED"

I went with a customer back to a local builder once... the builder called it a super high HP extreme all out race trans. He had a large list of stuff that was supposed to be in it.
When it crapped out tuning the car, we pulled the pan and I found rebuild parts that were of lower quality than OEM. NONE of the so-called performance upgrades were in there. They then refused to warranty it claiming that they didn't build it (??!?) and we were trying to "pull a fast one". WTF. It was a 19yr old kid that saved all summer for it. It lasted 200 miles. It's the trans that came in his car, the one he pulled out and took to them. In fact, it's the only trans he has EVER pulled out of a car. When I pointed out that it was painted just like the ones sitting around the shop owner said that if he wanted to rip off a trans builder, he'd paint a broken trans too.
I got loud after being called a liar and I called him (well many things) a few words and in the middle of it all, he called the police. He told them we were thieves there threatening him.
He has been in business for over 20 years.
