Another noise thread
Driving yesterday with no music and tge windows down and heard a squeaky noise. Its coming from my back passenger side. Sounds like something around the wheel. Havent had a chance to take the tire off and look yet. I know for sure my bump stops are shot and I am replacing them when I get new wheels next month.
The noise only happens when going over bumps. Could it be the bump stops or is there something else I should keep my eyes out for when I get the tire off?Suspension: Lower control arms (Spohn), Drive shaft safety loop, Torque arm (Edlebrock), Strut tower brace, Panhard Bar (BMR)
Under the Hood: Smooth bellows, Lid, Catch can, LT Headers, ORY, AIR/EGR delete, Poly engine/transmission mounts,
Exterior: Painted brake calipers (Red), Halo “Spyder” Headlights w/matching parking/turn signals (Black)

Blackened fire chicken- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
had the same issues once. could be rear sway bar frame bushings, or your rear lower control arms...i bought umi parts that i could grease and those noises are gone now until i need to re-grease them with a grease gun. have a friend bounce your car up and down while your under the car to pin point the noise

You can try getting some spray white litteam grease and spray all the moving joints like the lower control arms and that helps some times
"The Camaro SS looks like it could kick your ass. The Trans Am WS6 looks like its on its way over to do it."
treat stressful situation like a dog. if you can't eat or hump it, then piss on it and walk away.
keep your foot in it,till you see god

Check the heat shield adjacent to the exhaust where it goes over the rear axle.

So I can't figure out what this noise is. It is definitely more of a rattle than a squeak. I have looked underneath and just cannot figure out what the deal is.

Check your spare tire and such in the passenger side well.

Took the tire off and it seems like the bracket for the exhaust is doin it. Sound logical?

Put a friend in the back seat and have him try to pinpoint the location as you drive the car.

you checked the heat shield where the exhuast goes over the axle? Also that exhaust passes pretty close to the panhard bar also.

I have checked the heat shield and it seems to be fine. I have not however, checked the panhard bar. Are you suggesting I look at that as well?

took it to a shop by my house today and even they couldn't figure it out. Gonna ride with it until Thursday then take it back to em so they can take more time with it. One of the mechanics was hitting on the tire and you could hear the noise. Took everything thing off, including the rotor and cannot find the issue. WTF?
Good side of it is I found out I have a BMR panhard bar. One more thing to check off the list. haha

Stock exhaust or catback? If you are running a catback the clearance is kind of tight where the pipe goes up over the rear axle. Any contact there will result in noise. How about the hatch? I have read lots of noise complaints that have turned out to be a squeeky hatch. Wipe the hatch seal down with some spray silicone or GM rubber conditioner and see if the noise goes away. While you are at it, with the car parked bounce the rear suspension a few times and rock it side to side by pushing on it. Any noise?
