    Another EGR question

Sorry if this is a repost or in the wrong place. I am looking for some directions and possibly some pictures on cleaning the egr. I have been researching fixes and heard that cleaning can be useful. I am not going to remove it and tune it out at this time, and i would like to try this step before replacing it. I have found a lot of stuff but nothing LS1 specific. Any information would be greatly appreciated cause i have to fix this and an evap problem by august to take it to emissions. Thanks folks!

I once had one go bad, and I bought a new one. I took apart the old one and it had a ball-valve rusted/jammed in place. I don't seem to recall thinking it was cleanable. I have since removed my whole EGR system and tuned it out. If you want my replacement valve to try to clean, PM me an offer and zip code. I think it has about 30k miles on it.

Depending on your emissions laws, i would just remove the system, it is basically useless from a efficiency point of view, and clutters up the engine bay....

Do you have visual, sniffer or OBDII inspections in the Chicago???

If you have visual or sniffer.. keep the egr.

    OBDII, ditch it.

    I rock the SES light

I am sure it will be an OBDII test cause that is what the notice was talking about. i want to wait to see how the test goes first before i consider removing it. If all they do is plug me in then i get rid of it and send it out to frost for a retune.

EGR reduces the need for a higher octane rating. I would hardly call that useless.

Can I assume GM is not flowing EGR at WOT anyway? That would be typical not to flow at WOT, and above a certain RPM.

And it has no bearing on ozone. But that is another thread.

I'm not trying to get all tree huggy here, but EGR reduces NOx emmisions.
Ground-level ozone (smog) is formed when NOx and volatile organic compounds
(VOCs) react with heat and sunlight. Children, asthmatics and people who work
or exercise outside are susceptible to adverse effects such as lung tissue
damage and decreased lung function. Ozone also damages vegetation and
    reduces crop yields.
NOx is also a greenhouse gas if you believe in global warming. I kinda sorta do...sometimes

With that being said, yes you can remove the EGR and spray off the carbon from the pintle valve at the bottom. You can also push the pintle in a bit and spray some inside the valve. Theres not much to clean but that may help

I wonder if Children, asthmatics, and people who work or exercise outside are having any issues from the tons of pollutants factories blow into the air /water? Or toxic waste landfills and leaking barrels of toxic waste in the ocean.

heheh I copied and pasted that from a different website and didn't even really read that part about "Children, asthmatics, and people who work or exercise outside..."
    Sounds kinda goofy
And for what its worth, I'm not too tree huggy. I removed my AIR and EGR.
