Almost caught on fire today..

Ok... so i was driving in the rain today, and me and my buddy smelled a strong odor of gas. And then see steam coming out from under the hood..

Well i had a gas leak. You know where that green cap is, next to the fuel line on the driver side, well it wasn't leaking out of that, it was right near that. The gas was evaporating too fast to pin point the location.. but it was dripping in one area next to the valve covers, and almost dripped down on the pulleys and manifold.. so that would have been bad... I got the car towed to the local shop bc i didnt want to crank it, there going to look at it in the morning. And im guessing a fuel line is leaking.. but y would it suddenly do that?? Anyone might know what happend or what it is. All i know it scarred the shit out of me today. I sure am glad there where no flames..
