So my air pump is not working on my 2001 TA. My dad wants me to replace it, but i here its not really needed. Is it worth replacing or should i just remove it?

It's for emissions compliance only. If it is not on already, your Service Engine light will be on soon. That could be how you found out it is bad, the light came on.
My vote is spend the money on a lid instead.

Just tune it out. Its not needed. I just pulled mine out of my car and tuned it out with HP Tuners.

Yeah consider this a blessing
Get race style LTs and remove then tune out the pump.
I ripped mine out. It look less than 20 mins total.

It also makes it easier to change the plugs.

If you intend to maintain the future collectibility of your ride or if you live in an area where the inspector may care then fix it right. If not then remove it and tune it out. It may be as cheap as a $10 check valve or as expensive as an $90 pump.
