Air pump and Emissions removal
Hi, I got a 99 camaro ss and my check engine light is on because my air pump isnt working. I wanted to eventually remove this system anyways and put headers on but for now I was wondering what I can all remove or if anything if I plan on keeping my stock manifolds on since the air pump pipes into them?

They will throw a code. Which means your service engine soon light will be on, you won't pass any emissions test. It won't affect driveability at all. It is honestly cheaper and easier to leave it as is for now, and eliminate it when you go with headers. If you need to pass emissions, you will need to either fix the a i r system, or have it tuned out.

Just pull the fuse for now, it is under the hood with the big fuses and relays.

Hey thanks for the help! Im not sure what the code was again been while since I scanned it but it was something like short in the air pump system or something like that. You wouldn't happen to know off hand what code to look for to just check if its just the check valve?

p1415 is the drivers side and p1416 is the passenger side. You can find all the code lists and definitions at gearchatter.com
