It is most likely the check valves.

You have to actually clear the code with a code reader or scan tool. Disconnecting the battery won't necessarily do it.

I would have to check the DTC list in my software to see what it sets and resets at. You are correct, it may clear after "x" number of starts or warm up cycles. If you have a friend at a parts store, or anyone with a scan tool, they can reset it. The parts store people are technically not supposed to reset the light, just read the codes.

    Air pump

Yea the guy at the parts store said he couldn't reset it but that it would reset after so many cold starts it would reset because everything is working as far as the new air pump so hopefully he's right the car runs great but it's just annoying.

I notice you're not to far away from me down there in Beloit (I'm in Madison). If for some reason you're gonna be up this way anytime soon and still need the code cleared, let me know. I can reset it.

Before I bought a scanner, (can get one for as little as $30 or so,) I took my car into my local auto-mech (shop down the street that I have do my inspections/major work) and asked him to clear out the codes. He didn't have a problem doing it, takes no more than 5 minutes to put down your wrench, grab a scanner, eat a candy bar (depending on the candy bar,) go to the bathroom, hook up to the car and delete the codes.

Should you not have a "local guy," I would suggest stopping by any small shop neighborhood-type place and just asking if they'll do it. If they try charging you, drive to the next shop and ask. You shouldn't have to pay, but tipping the guy would definitely help out if you need to stop back for other small stuff.

    Air pump

Is there anyone around southern wi that would be interested in removing my air pump and everything that goes with. I changed it had the code reset and it came back. Same code and I know the air pump Is working I don't have emissions testing where I'm at so I want it gone it is very annoying.

It's real easy to remove. You can get a block-off plate kit from one of the vendors and a couple of vacumn caps from a local parts store. Go ahead and drop the EGR while you're at it and get a plug for the intake manifold. You can get an expandible freeze plug for a few bucks or go the expensive route and get a GM plug for $20 or so thatlooks real clean. The most expensive thing is the tune to clear the codes.

If you're comfortable with you mechanical skills, we can help you with the removal. Then you can send your PCM to Frost and have him remove the system trouble codes along with his famous performance oriented tweaks. I also have HPtuners and can delete the codes and tweak a few things for you but you'd get more out Frost's tune.

Cutlass what would you suggest I take the air pump off or find the problem and have it fixed. Just want to do the best thing for my car.
