Sebring Silver Metalic- 2002 Camaro Z28
Air Lid question for 02 Camaro
So I sold my 99 z28 for a 02 z28. I went to put on my air lid and noticed an extra fat hose sticking out of the drivers side of the factory lid. The lid I have from my 99 does not have this. It has the hole for the little sensors in the neck area but no big hose port thing on the side.
What is this hose and do I really need to attach it?
The hose wanders off into the driver front fender area. I suspect it is some kind of vacuum hose for the AIR system? I have no idea. I was wondering if I could just shove a breather style filter into it and strap it down out of the way?
well any way i don't have my lid on it because i have no idea what to do with that hose, so for now i have the stock lid and baffle.
I thought about cutting the tube neck thing off the factor, bunching a whole in my lid and apoxy glue it on. But that seemed like a real poor mans ugly way to solve the problem.
thanks

Yeah, that goes to the air pump. You don't need to hook it up. Just put a little breather filter on it, zip tie it down and be on your way
Here's how I had mine.

Or if your lid has space for drill a hole, insert a grommet and insert the hose.

either buy a lid with the hole for it or just delete the AIR completely.
Breather filter on it looks/is so half assed.12.89 108 2.0

I don't know who made the lid od for what year. The only hole is for the AIT (i think i have the initials right) sensor. The rest of the lid is smooth and solid. Well as solid as plastic can be, .
I might just breather filter it. This way I won't have to worry about cracking the lid if i screw up drilling. I'm sure i will spend hours debating it in my head.

I guess I assumed it was an SLP lid. But, either way, you can lose the air pump if you don't have strict smog requirements.
When I bought my 2000, it had an 98-99 lid and the air hose was just tucked away with nothing on it at all. So, I put the little filter on it just because.
I couldn't find the piece that connected the hose to the lid anywhere online. SLP didn't sell it by itself either. So, I ended up trading the plug on the lid I had to someone here who deleted the air pump and wanted the plug for the piece I needed for the hose.
But, you don't need to have that hose hooked up to the lid.Last edited by KahanaReef; 10-25-2009 at 09:33 AM.

Thanks. I don't have mine set up that way anymore. That is an old pic. I found the peice I needed to hook up the hose from someone on the site
I got mine at Autozone. Just a few bucks. The clamp that came with it was to small though. So, you need a slightly bigger one.
