Add Wires To Factory Harness Connector?

Has any one ever added wires to a GM factor wire harness connector?

I'm trying to add the radio controls for the steering wheel. I beleive I am missing the needed wires at the back of the radio. I was thinking about trying to see if I could add / run a set of wires.

This would require me to add a set of wires to the factory wire harness connector.

    Ever been done?

    Any tricks?

    Thanks

Im sure its not too difficult, although i havent personaly done it, your best bet is to either get a wiring diagram or try to find someone that has a Factory instailed radio control's and just copy the wiring.
Make sure you disconnect the battery and have a few extra fuses on hand just incase.

The only problem I would think is getting the connectors that plug in the harness. I know some auto stores have some, but not the ones you might need.

I opted for a set of male and female d-sub pin connectors. they are the perfect size. I test fitted a sinlge wire and I was amazed. now I am still searching for the proper pin outs for the four wires. I know one will be ground, one will be power, and one will be illumination, and the last one should be radio control. One big question, do they all go into the rear radio harness? all the diagrams I have seen so far only show one pin out, the radio control. That leaves me with three wires to find a home.
