ABS Inop & Trac Control Off

Okay..so the first 2 things I am going to have to fix on the SS are these two lights

the ABS Inop light is on...and does not go off

And the "Traction control off" light will not go out (maybe a logic box?)

    Where do I start?

The "Trac off" light is on because of the ABS problem. Diagnose that first.

It could be a wheel speed sensor (which is most common) or a pump circuit fault ect... there are multiple ABS codes so until someone is able to pull the code your shooting in the dark.

sweet...i think i might know another reason...when i went to drive the car the left front tire was way low...possible cause being different wheel spin speeds?

Could be. Unhook the battery and reset the computer. A wheel speed sensor that is inoperative will set a code right away.

Ok i got a friend to shoot some codes for me and we found these two

C0050 - Right rear wheel wheel speed circuit malfunction

C0046 - Left rear wheel speed ciruit range/performance

But I have no sensors on my rear wheels

anybody else run into this problem?

well now, your not going to have sensors on your wheels if that was where you were actually looking. they are in the end of your axle, where your brakes mount up. also c0050 is right rear wheel. i doubt that you have to bad wheel speend sensors at the same time. so what you do is look at a schematic and find what the two circuits have in common, prolly a connector somewhere and it could have come unplugged or have corrosion. check this connector: #1

i dont know what that particular connector is. did you just buy the car? does it have a asr button next to the fog light button? has the car always been throwing these warning lights?

12570109 is what GM told me it should be...this possibly might be a V6 or LT1 rear end because the rear brakes are kind of small ...

yes I just bought the car and I was aware of the lights but thought it might have been something simple...yes the car does have the ASR button on the dash..i think the rear end got swapped

i bet it did. prolly got a regular rear with no asr. i think the brakes are all the same for the 98-02 years regardless of engine size if they are disc. lol i dont know what to tell you except get a 12 bolt with asr hook ups

well I did double check on the brakes and compared it to a firehawk sitting out in the dealership and sure enough the brakes are different and there is a plug in that spot where there is not on mine

Someone probably switched in a rear from a car with 3 channel abs instead of one with 4 channel. The 4 channel is for traction control cars.

I did verify that it was an LT1 rear axle thats on the car now...so bolting up the LS1 axle shouldnt be a problem should it?

Just as long as it is a 4 channel abs setup. I think it should have sensors on hubs and 2 seperate brake lines.

the salvage yard called me and verified with me that the axle came off of a 2000 car with 49k on the clock..and it does have the sensors for ASR

what is the difference in a 3/4 channel? just a question out of curiosity
