    95 z28 fuel pump?

    Has anyone had this happen?
Driving along car starting to slow down, wouldnt accelerate, shifted to nuetral. rpm dropped to 600. Then engine died. wouldnt restart. I'm thinking fuel delivery issue. Maybe the pump. Havent checked for pressure at the rail yet, but it looks like removing the tank will suck. remove exhaust, rear end..... omg.
If it turns out to be the pump, has anyone cut an access panel in the floor above the tank?

I'm not real fimiliar with the newer cars, lots of experience on the 60-70's models. welcome advice

I dont know how simlilar the 95 z28 engine is to a 96 z71 5.7 truck engine but I had those exact same symptons and I had a gm dealer diagnose my problem and it was the fuel pressure regulator located in the intake plenum under the throttle body. Hopefully that will help ya out.

Thanks bro.....I just did a fuel pressure test and I'm at about 4lbs. service manual is saying 48-55lbs. So I believe it to be the pump because its the same at the fuel filter, and the fuel rail. If it was the regulator when you pull off the vacuum line it would have fuel in it. I have a Bonniville that had that go out.

I did cut a trap door, I have a convertable so there is the body in the way also. Its still possible to get it out though disconnecting the line is a bummer. should I have disconnected the lines down on the frame?

got the new pump installed and I still have the same problem. no start...argh. Is it possible the regulator is bad? What I dont understand is that I had 4lbs at the filter.
