    New to the site Thread. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would be cheaper(or possible), to build a 6.2 L92 403HP from scratch. Any and all advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Do you mean using a GEN III Block like a LQ4 or 9? If so yes and no.

    Yes you can build a 6.2L (376ci) with either block. Resizing their bore to 4.005 to 4.030" will get you to similar size bore. Add a 4" stroker crank and you have a 403/408ci.

    No in costs. Machine shop will be needed; rates vary from $250-600 depending on how much work needs to be done and if they're assembling it for you; add more to this cost if they assemble. Parts - Pistons, rings, rods, bearings, gaskets, etc. they add up. If you go stroker a K1 Forged 4" Stroker Crank goes for $950-1100. Some more machine shop work will be needed for this specific purpose as well.

    Another issue you'll have to deal with a GEN IV block after 04 is the reluctor wheel that is pressed on the crank. Our cars use 24x, after 04 GM went to 58x reluctor wheel. Has different sensor for crank, wire harness and ecm is different as well.

    This is a very broad answer. Sorry but to many unknowns and variables to get any more specific answer.
