5.3 swap in 86z28

Ive been thinking about swapping an LS1 into my 86 z28 for awhile now, until I found out how cheap I can get a 5.3 for.. Ive seen them on ebay for as low as $380 but I had a few questions. What would be the desired vehicle to get one from?? Some are advertised as "flex fuel" not 100% sure what that is.. I figure the early year 5.3 would be the most simple.. and I believe theyre around 285hp and nearly everything that can go on/in an LS1 can work with these correct? anddd the trucks/suvs that have the 5.3 also have a 4l60e? which should fit just fine into the 86 camaro??

It will be the same mechanical swap (meaning LSX parts) as an LS1.... and the 5.3 is a pretty solid motor, with head studs and 10psi you'd be VERY happy I'm sure.

I was thinking about putting an LS6 cam/intake in/onto it.. Would those parts switch over?? The car is very light I think it'd be pretty quick with around 350hp

Cam would the intake is different so the fuel rales are also. Nothing that can't be adjusted.

so the intake will bolt on if you switch the fuel rails?? I'll post a pic of the car if it works..

Looks good is the stock motor still in it?

yea it's a 305 bored to a 310, has a slightly bigger cam, headers, exhaust and a stall.. I got the car when I was 14, was a project with my dad, he didn't want me to have too much power. haha
