If it's a temporary fix save your money and just let the car sit.

to answer your question it will run but will have some issues. You could get a mail order tune from Frost. He should be able to help in this matter.

look for a LQ block to throw that supercharger on. you can run more boost with an iron block then you can with aluminum.

They are mostly in trucks & suv's, you want to look for a LQ4 or 9 in 01-04 yrs. They are 24x reluctor wheel. The LQ4's have dished pistons and run around 9:4.1 compression.

They can also be bored out 30 over safely to make it a 408ci, new pistons & crank will be necessary for that kinda build.

Bonus....they are cheap to get when compared to LS1/2/6 motors.

Make sure its a 24x reluctor wheel like stated otherwise it wont run at all (wont fire on compression stroke due to not knowing when)

and you will have to drill a hole in the front of the block for the main alternator bracket, other then that it is a direct swap over and isnt too involved if you know what your doing, simple but time consuming is all. good luck

The yrs i posted are the ones that have the 24x and most importantly have the same crank length as our ls1 cranks. 97-00 yrs the crank is 0.400" longer. It means ls bell housings have issues but lt housings will work. Most guys swap to ls crank. Cheaper the swapping to lt bell housing & tranny.

It comes down to what's cheaper/less painful....

$200 for an adapter or shitload for new wire harness & pcm?

If you go for a 408 or higher then doesn't matter what yr because you're getting a new stroker crank anyways.

I've always heard you could just have the reluctor removed and a new one pressed on (not sure if that is the right term). I am not sure how true that is.

Yes you can but on the pre 01's you still have the crank length issue.

In that case yes but I was just talking about switching reluctors if the crank was the same size. I am pretty sure 01+ are the correct length and 00 and down are the longer. This because both the lq9 and lq4 used the same crank and the lq9 was introduced in 2001.

most guys are using the 317 heads with some mill work.

I would still do a tear down and refresh the rings, bearings and have the block checked out before throwing on a super charger.

Depending on the amount of boost you plan to run, forged parts may be required.
