    454 vortech in 2000 fbird

    me and a buddy are wanting to squeeze a 454 vortech out of a 1999 2500 gmc into a 2000 firebird. can this be done?

    yes. classic chevy mag did a 502 into a 4th gen.

    stock they put out 295Hp and 450Lb.

    once you open them up, definatly.

    they are really plugged up from the factory

    new heads,camm tune and full exhaust.
    are a great start.

    it all depends on the kind of cam and heads you get, along with intake.

    the Vortec are better than previous versions but they still rob potention power.

    some cams will give you more low end, and some more high end. Truck cams normally give you more low end power.

    they are pretty heavy engines though, i dont see why you would want one in a firebird.


    the aluminum block 5.3L would be a much better truck engine than a 454 for your application. its more related to the LS1

    mabey but wouldnt the added weight to the front tires make it corner alot better? also there is an old saying. there is no replacement for displacement.

    exactly torque is your best friend in a short burst take the duramax or powerstroke with a chip for exapmle :P

    The added weight will make your car understeer even worse.
