Red- 2000 Chevy Camaro Z28
2000 Z28 Oil Pressure gauge needle movements
Howdy,.,,
so for some time now,,actually most likely a few years,,,my oil pressure gauge needle seems to vibrate in a non normal fashion,,
Oil pressure at idle is stable and according to the gauge is like 45 psi or so,,,then when I get on it or stay on it (non idle) it goes to around 65, but its when iots at idle that I notice it sometime jump about 5 to 10 psi,,,
Could this be an oil pressure sensor issue or the gauge needle itself,,,I dnt think its the oil pump,,,since I have well over 250 k on my motor,,,and I heard that they either work good or die a fast death,,,
Any data would be great

The oil pump is made out of different metals, the pump itself is steel and the housing is aluminum so overtime it will wear out. As long as the pressure isn't going down it doesn't seem to be a problem, mine blips a little under braking when downshifting. If you are really concerned get a real gauge and see what it's doing.
