1998 fuel sender
I install a new fuel pump .The pump works but not my fuel gauge.It stays on e when I drive,then when I shut the car off it moves to 1/4 tank.

You might not necessarily need a new sending unit, you may have bent some of the components or knocked them off. I would open her back up and take a look.

did you ohm out that connector yet to see if the tank even needs dropped? I'm not a fan of cutting on my car either but the access panel way does seem to be much easier and if you do it right it wouldn't look too bad and with carpet over it no one would really know anyhow.
