you wouldnt need to buy another block just rebuild the one that you have but personally i wouldnt do it because knowing my luck i would throw a rod and have to replace everything just my .02

Imho always better to rebuild/build than upgrade an old motor..Heads/cam and spray @ 100k? I would'nt... Unless I was 100% certain about the bottom end.. Whatever mileage is left on the bottom end you can cut in half or more if you spray it often... just my .02

Seems like we have lots of guys on here upgrading and running their cars hard with more miles than that. If it breaks, you just fix or replace it. It also appears that replacement LS short blocks are not all that expensive.

You need to find yourself a beater. Hard to work on a car if you have to drive it every day.

You can do as you wish.. I was mostly giving my oppy not really giving a course of action.. Honestly I personally would'nt do more than just repairs to an old engine.. But that's just me.

We have around 75,000 on our car. The plan is to upgrade the transmission and torque converter over the winter and then go racing next year with it. Heads and cam will then be the next mod if I decide to step it up another notch -- we'll have to see how the car runs.

Well you live in Cali so I can see the dilema with your car being a daily, (no winters).. Out here in the north east, winter is mod/build time.. I may do some minor things here and there.. Mostly because my current project is taking so long.. So I'm gonna get all the driving I can this season out of the Camaro, there wont be another for a while for her after this one..

i would go ahead and buy the gorilla clutch now cause theres no since in buying one only to replace it again unless its going to be a while before you do the motor

If you are going to daily it, don't upgrade it in my opinion. I have very few mods to mine. Have daily'd it pretty much from 88k to now, 193k. I have replaced every accessory at least once, aside from power steering pump. I've got a lot more tic sounds than I used to, and that's with pretty much a header only car with 90% highway miles. I could only imagine what running spray would do to a DD car...and even heads and cam is most likely shortening the life of the bottom end. If you do go ahead and do heads and cam, I would get some ARP rod bolts to go with. You'll probably need an oil pump as well to go with head/cam setup, so the oil pan will be off anyway I would just make her sound good and look mean if you are going to DD her.... or like said above, get a beater for the daily stuff and do as you please with the F-body.
