****ing #8 Spark Plug!!!
This thing confounds me. Over the top; under the car... Just can't quite get at it. Picked up an AIR gasket from the dealer last night (they only had one on hand). Gonna try taking that tube off and using the wobbly joint plug socket tomorrow morning...

Just take the coil packs off and change it lol 5 min job. And when you re-install coils leave the back bolt out for next time.

That engineer had his calipers up his ass when he laid out that set up.Be who you are and say what you feel 'cause people who mind don't matter, and people who matter don't mind.'

Install LT's, you'll have more room to get your hands in there from the top. Also removing the coil bracket is a must unless yoy got some small girly hands.

Hurts dont it! I just got done doing it and I used a 5/8 plug socked and instead of usig a ratchet I put a Gear wrench behind it. I did it from the bottom, but stil had to take the A.I.R tube to put the wire back on. My arms look like an emo girls arms.

I just reach up from the bottom. Easy when it's on a lift.

Yes, on a lift it's way easier. In your driveway or garage you'll want to just go ahead and take the coil brackets off. I usually take a break and get all the plugs gapped and lubed after getting everything removed and set up. Once you get in the groove you'll see that it will take about 30min to get this job done. But start with the 8 and after that you're home free.

Anything I need to know before I take the coil bracket off? Any gaskets that I should have on-hand before I start?

Just go up from the bottom, you don't have to take anything off that way. I do them all the time like that.

Thanks, but I already tried it like that. I can't fit my arm through that gap...

Really? I've been a bodybuilder/powerlifter for 30 years, I'm only 5'4" and weigh over 200 lbs., so I'm no little pup
I can squeeze my arm in there, albiet not comfortable, but it keeps me from removing things that add time and aggravation.
I do use a lift however, so it's easier to wiggle my arm up there when standing on my feet,,,,, I can do all 8 plugs in 30 minutes with a beer break in between

First 3 plugs= removed air tube and first 3 coil packs. #8= went from the bottom. They all suck to replace.

do you have LT's are the stock manifolds? I have LT's and i just take the coil pack off and its pretty simple. It is a pain in the ass but it is do-able.

Well, I got it done. Took me 4 hours since I was only able to work from the top (had to do it in my apartment parking lot, and they get grumpy when tenants work on their cars, so lifting it up would've raised too many eyebrows). Anyway, I removed the AIR tubes on both sides and the coils off of cylinders 4 and 6. The first 3+ hours were just plug #8 (trying to figure out how to get it off with just one-too-few extensions and no room to turn the wrench (wound up doing most of the turning way back there under the dash).
The whole passenger side is a pain in the butt for one reason or other: if it's not the #8 plug being way out in no-man's land, you've also go the dip stick to content with and the stupid AIR tube. Driver's side was quick and painless.
Well, I anticipate the next time I do this, I'll have a couple more tools in my collection and some lessons learned after the first try.
Long tubes are definitely on the list of things to put on, but that in the medium term...

Well at least you got it done. You guys should try changing plugs in an FE ford with shock towers in the way. I'll do 4th gens anyday.

I did the plugs with the longtubes, but when I upgraded the wires I got the wife to put on no.8 wire.she was thrilled to "work" on her car.
The old timers at the Ford dealership I used to work at said the 428 cobra jet and boss 429 mustangs had to have the engines pulled to access plugs.2007 Corvette...stock...
