Dyno Numbers Not What Expected?

Hey, I put my car on a dyno today, it couldn't read torque, but it said my RWHP was 347, I was expecting higher..anyone agree/disagree/suggestions?

how big of a cam. more than likely you might need to lighten up the drivetrain with a flywheel or maybe get a dyno tune. i wouldnt go with a mail order tune for internal mods and expect a whole lot. there are so many variables and more than likely mail orders for h/c is just to get the car running half decent enough to get a real tune. oh yeah how big of a cam. list your other mods aswell too. for all anybody knows it could just be a hotcam and some stock ls6 heads. i doubt it is but we really dont know what you have off the top of our heads.

Dynojet..and a guy i talked to had pretty much the same setup as me and ran 337 before a good tune, now is like 373, so im going to try a tune out.

A 'good' tune will net you a better number, and a better running car.

lol sorry. i figured it was an ls6 block for some reason(no clue why i thought that. any head work. that is where youll get higher numbers. the ls6 intake will let your engine breathe but its not set up to give you peak horspower. the only intake that will give you higher peak numbers is the fast 90/92. the ls6 cam isnt gonna give you a huge bump in power especially with untouched ls6 heads. its better than the stock ls1 cam and heads but its a smaller cam than a generally small cam(224r for example of a small cam). the heads show great numbers for builds when worked on. but all in all you just practically dropped in a used in some parts and new in others ls6 into your car. the blocks are very similar and the only difference is the h/c/i really. so your basically looking at a full bolt on ls6 outside of intake and throttle body.

One, the Dyno has to read torque, that is how it calculates the Hp. As for the LS6 package, you are expecting way too much out of it. With a VRX3, 59CC 243's with big valves, LS6 intake, headers, full exhaust, we put 348rwhp/325rwt on a mustang dyno. That is about 407rwhp on a dynojet. Your reading a bit higher than I would have thought with your package....

I would ignore the numbers, and get a tune anyway, even if you net no more braggin rights, you will get a better running car and be much happier with it!

Are you still running the stock 10 bolt or upgraded to a 12 bolt or 9". Either will draw more power from your over all numbers.

If the dyno didnt read the TQ than I would think that there is something wrong with the dyno and would go find a differnt dyno.... this may be why your numbers arent what you are expecting.

the 9" will take more power than a 12 bolt, but the broken dyno may be correct.

Those numbers to me seem low, im about 336 rwhp and with the LT's, ORY and re tune i should be about 350-355 rwhp. Your on the right path on deciding to get a dyno tune, i think in the end you will be much happier with the results and pull much better numbers.

Dyno numbers are over rated, they are just a tuning tool. Run the thing on a track that will tell the true story.

hey guys, just got back from the Dyno, I guess Texas Speed tuned my car for texas and for a boosted, was getting too much fuel. Changed a few settings
From 347RWHP to 375RWHP!

Another thing I dont like about dynos, a tuner can easily "sugar coat" the results...
