Went to the track very disapointed

Went to the 1/8 mile with my mechanic. He has a 69 charger 440 560hp, 1998t/a etc. He is a very good racer, better than me.

Best he was able to muster was a .4 reaction, 2.3 60 ft, 9.094@85mph. Now there were no slicks on the car, but once it hooked up she pulled very hard. I put the numbers into the 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile calcuator and it says 14.2 in the 1/4. This is a pretty sad considering the car makes 399.9 rwhp@5500 694 rwtorque@4500 on a mustang dyno.

If I did in fact put on a set of slicks, what do you guys and girls think it would run in the 1/8? Could I shave a whole second off?

That 2.3 60' time is killing him. For every .1 you shave off that, you shave about .2 in the 1/4....so I'd say that car has a lot more in it.

    I pulled a 1.906 60' with some shitty Nitto 555r's.

M/T's can get you into the 1.5X-1.6X range.

Full slicks? Not sure..but 5500 lbs is a pretty heavy piece of machinery to be pulling really hard off the line.

wow im tired dunno where I got the 5500 lb from...maybe 5500 RPM

Do you have LCA relocation brackets? Those would help with traction.

OK I am confused. You talk about a 69 charger and 98 t/a and give times for those...and then you mention you have a 02 vert..

    Am I reading this wrong?

Are you asking what you would run or are the times listed what you ran in your 02?

I am thinking it is the 2002 car with the 383.
    Might be wrong though.

Either way, drive it yourself. Learn it.
Should easily best that time. The only times I hit 2.3 sixty foots was the first 3 passes I EVER made, and if I fucked up the launch. You say this guy is good....but certainly sounds like there is plenty of room for improvement.

Damn near anything takes time and practice. Do it yourself, and have fun. Really the point of it anyways.

Given the calcuation that you gave me it should be 12.6 in the 1/4 mile with m/t's. Do you know of a conversion that you can input elevation? In your home town compared to mine it could be extremly different.

DA will have a little effect on 60' but not that much according to some others as I just recently asked this very question.

    I use this site...

    It is.
VERY rough estimate....but every 1000 feet seems to be about .15-.20 seconds. Of course, this varies GREATLY with weather and track conditions.

Also, try your best not to 'calculate' your times. Just go and practice. Only going to get better.
Never the best the first time out.

These times were done with my T/A. I just listed the other cars so everyone knows that he is a pretty good driver. I do have to hit the track more and pratice my launching though.

I have to assume with those gears you are a M6? How are you launching it?

It is tuned pretty good, but it was never tuned on the dyno. It is a m6. i have a hurst line lock, which i didn't use. I drove around the water box. Staged and reved it to 1500rmp with the traction control on, after launching she bogs down for a split second and then she is off like a bat. Next I tried with the traction control off and she is all over the place. It seems that easing into it and then hammering down is the only way to go till slicks arive.

Pretty much how it works....sometimes even on a slick.

Learning process. Keep trying, see what works.
After several attempts, I was able to get 275's to cut lower 2.1's. Which honestly isn't all that great.

What was the trap speed?? I would assume with a 383 that is should be over 90MPH fairly easy.

I had a 5500 rpm chip put in. I was told that i could get a little more out of her by the shop whom built my engine. Other people on here say I should get 6300 out of it so i may put a 6000 in and see how that goes.

    Chip?
    Say what?

It NEEDS a tune....and for that 'chip' to go bye-bye.
