Went to the strip for the first time.

well me and my brother blue02Z went to the local drag strip for my first time and getting all my bolt ons on my car. my first pass was a 9.4 at 80 or so, i sucked that one up cuz i was so nervous lol. finally started getting the feel of it and only launching at about 1100rpm's. My best run of the night was an 8.7 at 84 with a 2.1 60ft, the track was real slick, shifting into second every time i would spin and get some nasty wheel hop. i was pretty pleased with my times, just scared of messing up my rear end if i put slicks or DR's on.

First time out is always a bit of a nerve inducer... but it is so much fun. Just be careful on the shifts and stay away from sticky tires until you upgrade the driveline and you should be fine. Any plans to run the quarter?

yea its fun for sure. yea i was shifting real easy too cuz my brother rebuilt my tranny 2 weeks ago. not planning on the quarter right now its a pretty good trip to the nearest one where as this one is less than an hour. What would yall think it was capable of? there was a mach 1 with slicks and skinnies up front, it was an auto runnin 8.2's all night with a trap of 82.

I would guess low 13's to high 12's, depending on your shifting capability and your launch.

The point is for your own entertainment and for a few other reasons.

    1. You can prove how fast YOU and your car are.
    2. You can compare to what the "magazines" say you car runs.
    3. To shut up Mustang GT drivers.
    4. To shut up old timers who think the 60s were the fastest cars.

5.) To prove that the money you spent on mods really made a difference.
6.) It's the only place to legally drive your car as fast as it will go in a 1/4 or 1/8 mile.
    7.) It's addictive.

8.) Go head to head with freinds.
9.) Beat on Mustnags (its a double post but well worth it).

    10) See other nice cars
    11) See hot women driving fast cars
    12) Watch fast cars
    13) Listen to open header cars
    14) Watch people break stuff so you don't feel so bad when you do

15.) Get motivation for new parts when people like Jon smoke you while "taking it easy".

You can possibly meet new people who also share the same interest and hobby as yourself. Cruising buddies, etc. Even if you don't race it's pretty fun just going to see how badass the cars are there.

Since you ran a 8.7, IMHO, I'd put you at ~13.50's.

You might be a little quicker since you said you weren't shifting as hard as you could've.

    It's fun isn't it??

It gets in your blood! It sounds like you had fun!

    16) To get a real timeslip to show how fast your car REALLY is.
    17) To showcase how your UMI parts slam the back tires into the ground and make your car launch like a missile

    Sorry, couldn't resist #17...
