went to the 1/8th mile for fun
went to the 1/8th mile for fun with my good friend.... kept telling me all summer to go so i finally gave in
it was a blast...
my best race was against 3rd gen that appeared to be built in some fashion when we looked at the guys car later... (when he asked me to race him i thought i was going to rip his doors off cuz it looked stock in every way)
anyway... here was my best
reaction .5398
60 ft 2.2900
330 ft 6.1540
ET @ 594 8.7042
1/8 ET 9.2742
1/8 MPH 78.94
lost by .0720!!!!!!!!
my car is a 00 z28 m6 with only a SLP LM catback... should it have run faster or is this about right? it was my first event at the track and i really tried... had about 15 tries that night...

Eh, you really need to get that 60' down. Its looking like a high 13 second/very low 14 car.

i really dont know what i did wrong... i really thought i got all i could out of the car...
what rpm do u guys shift at? maybe i'm shifting too late or too early?
i have to stock airbox and a shitty paper filter... would this affect it?
could my clutch be worn?
like i consder my self a decent driver but i'm reading some of u guys getting 8.8 in an 1/8th mile over 80mph... i could not break over 79mph
so it seems to me i'm doing something wrong haahhaahah and i tried letting off the clutch slow, fast, low RPMS, higher (like 2.5k... dont want to go too high) RPMs)....
my tires are 245 firestone firehawk wide ovals... they never really spun....
any insight could help me really cuz i'm new to this

Your 60 is bad. You should be in the high 8's with your car. Did you leave hard and spin? Did you come out of the throttle before you crossed the line? Your mph is really low.

i came off hard and tires spun a little and then grabbed.... that was my best run launching around 1500 to 2000 rmps i think... (it was awhile ago) my friend let me barrow this neat thing called a "g tec pro" and it calculates your HP, torque, 0-60, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, g's... etc and even plots each on graphs all in this little unit... its a lot of fun
so i've been messing with it trying to ge ta better 60' time..
but yeah in spring a filter and intake would possibly help open it up more and plus i just need practice aparently.
