vipers really this slow?
There was a newer viper at the track this past weekend. The best pass he ran was a 8.01 in the 1/8th...He didnt spin and it didnt look like he was cutting it any slack.
Are they all this slow?? I know that should come to like mid 12's or so in the 1/4 but for some reason I was thinking they should run better than that. I kept trying to get in line beside him in the staging lanes but I never could run him.
I would love to put it all over him in my redneck Fbody so he calls them...How come 90% of all viper owners are fags and smart asses?

I don't think the guy knew how to properly drive the car and unless we see his slips you can really only hypthosize how well he was driving the car. FWIW, I have personally piloted a bone stock 00 Viper RT/10 to 7.5Xs in the 1/8th. Most runs were made around the 7.60 range but I did dip into the high 7.5s on two occasions. Its a difficult car to launch hard. Unfortunately, most Viper owners have more money then driving skill.

I have heard vipers are easy to launch.

The new viper should be close to par w/ the C6 ZO6. On street tires it should be good for a low 12, high 11 pass.

Vipers are very hard to launch. I played with one on my 00 929 and it was fun, even when he caught traction I still won.
I shouldve too..not cuz I was on a bike, but my ex was in his car.

hmmm... i thought jesse mcfaran held a pass faster than that. i think he went 7.8 in his 98 TA on boost. i talked to him last week at the track here and thats what he told me and he seemed like a honest guy.

An 8.0 sec. 1/8th mile time is illustrative of a mid to low 12 sec. car. I don't think that's slow, but if you do, then i'm assuming you are driving a really fast car. Considering the dudes viper was most likely stock, i'm sure you can guess what a tuned one would run. The Hennessey Twin Turbo one's will bust out 9-10 sec. passes all day on drag radials/slicks.
For a stock car I think they do all right.

look at his user name.. Bottlefed. I dont think he is calling it slow but he is obviously spraying and when you consider you can strap a bottle in your car for under a 1k and run with a car that cost 3 times as much as yours you would wanna ask questions about it. Now if I ever end up making enough money I would keep my trans am and post here but you would also see me on some other forums with the name Juiced07RT10

im not assuming that hes saying hes faster than the viper, whether he is or not. i know what hes saying tho.... expensive ass car that runs 12's. buy a $15k t/a, put a few bucks into it and run 12's.

Exactly. For most Vipers, an 8.0 1/8th is about a 12.32-12.40 1/4 mi time usually around 117+mph. For most ham-fisted, yuppie Viper owners, thats a halfway decent time.
Although the late 2nd gen and up Vipers have the ability to run 11s bone stock on the stock Michelin Pilots with an excellent driver.

I talked to the guy last night at the track and he has a good bit of bolt ons and he was playing with a laptop the whole night. He did manage to get a 7.8 out of it and he was cutting 1.8 60's so he wasnt launching all that bad.
Im not downing vipers and yes Iam spraying the house down on my car to run quicker than a stock viper but that dont really matter.Im just saying if I spent 70-80k on a car it best better run better than some low 12's..

Poke around the Viper forums for a bit. There are plenty of true bone stock 11.8-12.0 Vipers. I have personally driven a stock 00 RT/10 to an 11.78@122mph at Lebanon Valley Dragway in upstate NY. I'm just putting that out there for you so you know what they are capable of in the hands of an excellent driver.
