Snell helmets
So this year is the first year that ill need to wear a Snell SA2000 or SA2005 helmet at the track this year. i really dont wanna spend 300+ dollars on a new one so does anyone know of a place to get a used or cheap one that would fit this req. iv looked on ebay and iv found alot of Snell 2000 but there not the SA2000 so i dont think they will pass during tech. any suggestions help cuz i dont wanna have to spend that much on a helmet that illl use maybe 5 times or so this year.
Thanks

Mine meets snell 2000, I've never been checked while driving either of my f-bodies that I have owned and I've run in the low 12s.

Some tracks don't bother to check. Others are picky. My snell rating has since expired so I'm needing one too again.
The kicker is they only seem to last a couple years before they expire again. For a little fun racing it's hard to justify the cost.
My father recently got another one, and I believe he told me he got it through summit for just over $100.

I believe helmets are good for 12 or 13 years. The 2000 rating should be good. I just picked up a new 2010 rated helmet for 160.00 at a local bike shop !

I know mine isn't anywhere near 12 years old and it was shunned at a local track here in AZ. It was checked in Ohio 3-4 years ago and it was okay. Then went unchecked until recently.
So either evidently there is a rating that has changed, or Speedworld out here is being very nit picky.

Well its at heartland park in topeka and they go by the NHRA Rulebook so the Rulebook says Snell SA2000 or higher but IV found some Snell 2005 but not SA2005 should that pass? I don't wanna blow 100$ on a worthless helmet.

a snell 2000 is good for 10 yrs and snell 2005 is to. That being said u dont want a snell 2000 because NHRA or some track will not except it after this yr. So I would want to by a snell 2010 and should be out by now but will be good to 2020. u can buy 2005 on Ebay cheaper because of only 5 yrs left.

I'm still using a snell m2000 from when I had my quad. This is the last year that it'll be used.
