question about 1st time at track
ok, so ive been going to the track the past couple of weekends drooling over some of the badass rides and ive got the itch to run mine but im kind of hesitant(ive never ran a car at the track). ive read quite a bit of posts lately about members and their first time at the track and it sounds like fun. i hope this doesnt jinx anyone but ive noticed no1 has mentioned breaking anything their first time at the track. thats the main reason im hesitant to take mine as it is my dd. 99 z28, a4, k&n air filter, flowmaster 40 w/no cats, 165k(yes, i know, alot of miles*main reason im hesitant*) but runs and drives great. my question is, what are some of the most common problems people seem to have w/their cars(if any) after taking their car down the strip their 1st time?
thanks in advance for replys

I bought my car at 100,000 miles, went to the track almost every week. After 6 months of owning the car and drag racing it at the track and on the street alot, the tranny finally started slipping. car now has a built a4 tranny and 130,000 miles. i run it wide open almost everytime i drive it. i still race alot and just recently drove the car to chicago from st.louis to get a fiberglass hood and drove it back to the track, raced it then went home(700miles)
if you are stock then i wouldn't worry about breaking things, not that it won't happen but a few runs to see what the car will do prolly won't hurt. is the tranny 165,000 mile old? if so i wouldn't make a habit of going to the track often unless its been built with all the good parts.2000 auto camaro

man, sounds like you have a beast of a car. nice times by the way. im basically stock(k&n air filter, flowmaster 40 w/ no cats). as far as i know its the original tranny(so yea, 165k miles old). off tha top of your head could u give me a ballpark range of what a built tranny might set me back?
thanks for the response!!

those 4l60e trannys are stronger then what people give'em credit for. there are many upgrades for them that make them even more efficient and powerful. A stall is one of them
