    Mickey Thompson Drag Radials

Who runs Mickey Thompson Drag Radials at the track? What size do you run? Mine are 275 40 R17. What are the advantages of running a wider and taller drag radial?

wider is obvious=more rubber on ground

taller= more tire to squat and in return also creates more rubber on ground

    I ran them last year.
I had the 275/50/15's. Liked them, but tried something new for this year.

Currently running Hoosier QTP's. 27x11.5x15's. They stick better, but can't really be used on the street. I drive to and from the track on them...and that is it.

Also changing your tire height is effectively changing your gear ratio. With a taller tire you get the same effect as if you went with a numerically lower gear.

Ya I tried the MT drag radials but for me (six speed) my car hooks much better on bias ply ET Streets like your QTPs.

I love my MT Drag Radials. At 15 PSI they were hooking so well, that if i didn't dump the clutch above 6K RPMs I would bog hard out of the hole. Raised the pressure to 18 PSI and dump at 6200-6400 and hit low 1.7s. Still working with the suspension a little but will be in the 1.6s soon enough... I know some other guys sprayin and hitting 1.5s on their MT Drag Radials. I like the tires so much that I have yet to put my draglites on just yet with the 26X10.5X15 ET Streets.

Most the 6 speed guys I know doin mid to low 1.5s on the MT drag radials use the 28' ones with 4:56 gears.

yeah 4.10s here, and all motor stock block. so if I get down to 1.6s I will be extremely happy. Most 6 speeds around here don't even get into the 1.7s NA stock block.
