I saved 30lbs on a foot scale from my stock carpet to pep boys thin carbet. stock carpet was 35lbs, and the pep boys was 7lbs for the roll, but I had to trim it...ended up being 5lbs.

I did notice slightly more noise since there is no rubber coating on the carpet, but it doesn't bother me at all.

Funny thing is ...I made money..

I bought the carpet for $25. When I removed my stock carpet I found $5 in change!!!! I then cleaned my carpet and sold it for $50.

I installed the carpet myself using 3m adhesive clue. It looks good for the most part, but there are a few wrinkles in the carpet. Not to bad though. Since this is not premolded carpet more attention is need to get it to flatten out over the floor pan, some tugginf and easy stretching is needed to get a cleaner look. I think I spend 3-4 hours total on it taking my time and drinking a few beers...

The last Toyota Supra had some sort of hollow core fibered special lightweight carpet. I remember reading it in an article WAY back when they first came out.

I will try to get pics. I do want to add I ordered the black carpet, Should have ordered the dark charcoal. It still looks good, but black shows dirt more, have to keep it vacuumed more often.
