Input please on budjet project
come on guys, I have owned 10second street cars, but this is just a low budget test, give me some input, I know it is not a screamer, but does the times surprise you, or do you figure it would be faster/slower.
What mods would you try first. as THE PROJECT PROGRESSES I'LL GIVE CREDIT FOR MOST IMPROVED MOD.
you have to remember we are dealing with a de- stroked 5.3 with a 4.8 crank,
I am trying to even the playing field for the 4.6 mustang guys, don't get me wrong I am not knocking the mustangs as my best friend in the world owns 3 4.6 cars and his sister owns a mach 1 .
I took the Z28 on it's maiden voyage , with stock 3.23 gearing, mass air NOT de-screened , tb bypass NOT performed yet, free air mod NOT performed,
and on street tires 275/40/17 nexen radials.
WHAT IT DOES HAVE IS 5.3 iron block 706 heads ls6 intake zo6 cam and springs, SLP long tubes Y pipe SLP cat back, edelbrock muffler and some of the damn ugliest exhaust tips placement you have ever seen .
I figure with the added weight of the iron block, about 70ish lbs, all the extra suspension parts, around 50lbs, and my 260 lb ass. and the loss if the extra cubes. combined with the heat and d/a today. it did pretty well.
2.216 60'
6.0599 330'
8.4212 594'
8.9771 1/8 mi @ 84.23mph
I will do all the free mods + a 4.10 gear cooler thermostat ,a tune and drag radials and see where it goes from there.
If all goes well I will put a 100 shot on it , My goal is for 7.80's on a 100 shot.

A4 ??? I'd look for a bargain stall converter. At least a 3600 locker. Still street able.

B2300 (Fluffy) Retired- Plain-Jane Dodge Truck
Sure you can. You can get a 4.8 cid motor (Gen III or Gen IV).

That was not my goal at all, I was being sarcastic , I used to own a 69 Z/28 with a 302 DZ and a muncie 4 speed with a 12 bolt and 3.73's
I thought it would be neat to build a 302 cubic engine from a lsx base just to see how the motors would stack up. and it's not far off stock for stock, the Zo6 cam is a milder grind, and the heads are not 2.02's but it is more efficient.
(ZO6) Cam 204/218 .551/.547 117.5 LSA HYD roller
(DZ) Cam 254/254 .485"/.485". 114. LSA solid
