I want to run 12s
Ok, I have never run my bird down the track.
I raced my friends z28
My mods were- lid, off road y, no muffler 3.23 gears street tires on 16x8s
My friends 99 z28
5.3 heads, eBay longtubes, 3" x w/ dumps, k&n open intake, ac/egr delete a4 w/ 3.73s and a tune.
295 35 18 bfg tires
He runs a consistent 13.0-13.2 traps 106-107
In a street race from a dig he pulled me 2 cars every time.
So I assume I would have run 13.3-13.5?
Now my setup is
Ram air, lid, smooth bellow, ported tb, true duals on stock manifolds, 3.23s 18x10.5 on 285 35s
What should I expect to run? And what do I need to do to break 12s???

sticky tires and a stall should do it

Well, if you had a stall convertor you'd be close. With slicks, you'd be there. But we all know slicks and OE diff = kaboom.
Right now, I'd say your setup gains are muted by the probably higher wieght wheel/tire combo, so you'd be beaten about the same by your friend. Something is probably not quite right with your friends car, or maybe he just needs a good stall also.

Our A4 car ran 13.395 with a lid, SFC's and a catback on street tires. Added headers, a catted Y, 12 bolt with 3.73's, LCA's and panhard bar, a Frost mail order tune and dropped it to 12.885 on sticky tires. It may have ran a bit faster that day as I was playing with my launch, but once it hit in the 12's I was happy for the year and shut it down.
No reason you won't see high 12's with some added bite at the line from sticky tires and launching it with the revs held up near the stock stall speed of 1,500 - 1,800 rpm. Air quality and temp does make a noticeable difference as well, so avoid an attempt on a hot sticky day. Just remember to be nice to your 10 bolt or it will not be long for this world.

You're probably right on your 13.3-ish guess. Those 18's won't do you any favors at the track. (no sidewall)
Stall and 15's with drag radials should get you there pretty easy.
Either way, as long as I've owned F-bodys, I've always started with sub-frame connectors and long tube headers. If you do that, and maybe add a tune, you should be in the 12's as well.

A nice torque converter and a tune will get you 12's easily.

Headers, 3500 converter and ET Streets here and I ran 12.5/12.3. And that was with the stock 2.73's.

with my 16's, intake, exhaust and some relocation brackets I have ran 12.7. I don't see how your friend with heads is only doing 13 flat. If you still have them put the 16's on.

I want 12s as well. Even if just 12.999, I dont care....lol
Soon to come are the 3.73s and a Frost tune. 2.73s suck.

Nice time there!!!! Ran 12.9 with just headers, Nitto's and stock 2.73's here. OP wants 12's and I think we are all saying the same thing. I does not take much to get into the 12's. Heck there are a few factory ones that ran 12.9/12.8

I still have the slips from that day jeff....haha With my bone stock GTO LS1 M6 I cut a better 60' by more than .1 second. If this thing could get a better 60 foot the times would drop a lot. When I ran 13.5XX you ran a 13.1X and I remember you had me by about 2 cars. I would say the OP is in the 13.4-13.6 range.
As jeff stated tires + exhaust + gears + tune = < 13
For racing the OP should drop the 18s, gear the thing and get a tune.

OP's location says Oklahoma (going back to DA).. I would think header's and a set of DR's and he will be in the 12's.
And I agree with all the 18's have to GO.....
