    How to launch with nittos

I just got some 245-50-16 Nittos 555R tires. I was wondering how to launch my car with these tires? How about a burnout? In 2nd gear or 1st? This time I'll leave in Drive not OD.

    I ran a 9.03@81mph with 2.15 60ft Stock.
Now I have a SLP lid,K&N filter, smooth bellows,!FRA mod, cutout and the Drag radials.
What do you all think I should be running now? Lets see who gets the closest at guessing my times.LOL

Simply do a good burnout, stall it on the stock verter, and let her rip. That's the plus side of automatics - there easy! I would suggest manual shifting though, as it's always given me better times than leaving it in drive. I run my A4's no other way!

What RPM's do you shift at? I might try it this time.

What are your mods? 8.1's are pretty quick around here.

I've owned three A4 cars and i've always gained atleast .25 tenths from manual shifting versus drive. Unless your points are reprogrammed, you'll virtually always benifit from shifting past the stock ECM's shift points.

I think my car only shifts 1 time on the eight mile track, So I don't think me manually shifting is going to help since it shifts right at redline.

He is right. Mine is about .25 quicker when i select the gears by hand instead of leaving it in drive. And I have even adjusted my desired shift time between gears about as low as you can.

Do you think manually shifting the car in the 1/8 will help? I only trap 84mph, I think it goes through the traps in 2nd gear.

Mine is an A4 with 3.23's. I don't know it might be shifting to third, I am not sure. At what RPM's do you usually manually shift at?

I usually just hit 3rd very close to the 1/8 mile mark. I run a 8.86@84
I have not seen any difference when doing a burn out or just running the Nitto 555s cold.

2.1-2.2 for the 60ft last time I was out but I was having some "10 bolt/tranny issues *** loose drive shaft, leaking tail shaft, wheel bearings are out and broke something in the limited slip

Last time I was out I came off the line at 1000RPM it spun the tires well past the 60ft mark, smoke rolling off the drivers side tire, had to let out of it cause it was trying to walk around on me. That was without doing a burn out, it did hook up better after doing the burn out but it was only .1 better than the last time I was at the track.

Edelbrock shorty headers 2.25 duals SLP LM2- too small getting replaced with 3" x and AR headers
k&N/ cut out air lid and box
    Elec water pump /180 thermo
    SLP Underdrive pulley

When the motor had the stock valve train I shifted at 6000. I am in third gear at the 1/8. I have 28" tires and a 3.56 rear gear with the A4. Please note I had the computer rev limiter set at 6000 too.
