Thumbs up How do I hit 12's the hard way in a 00 Z28?

Here's the story...I just got my 00 Z28 and I want 12's...BAD! But I want to keep it very daily friendly(that's why I said the hard way). The car has an LS1 Motorsports lid, all free mods, Borla cat-back, and ported MAF ends(on their way). Here's what I'd ideally like, the rest is up for debate...

    -NO nitrous
    -BFG KDW's, W-rated(no drag radials)
    -3:73's max
    -2400/2500 stall converter max
-I'm ordering an Eibach Pro Kit(not ideal for drag I know, but I want an all around kick ass car, straight and twisties)
-Custom tune(after all mods are done)

So what else should I do to hit 12's...I want this as cheap as physically possible. I'm sure it can be done, just need to find the best combo. Even 12.99 is fine, but I want it on street tires.

Ok, get a 2800 stall, 3.73's, Drag Radials, Headers & a Tune... I think that will get you there...

That shouldn't be too hard really. Mine is a vert with an auto,,,and a 3,870 lbs. race weight (depending on gas) and I have went 13.40's at 104 mph already,,,,and all I have done is play with the tune a little,,,and I still don't know my way around HPtuners that well. The rest of the car is bone stock.
Good luck,,,I am looking to do the same thing without getting inside the motor,,,should be a breeze with a converter and some headers.

Base line the car first and see where you are at,,,then go from there.

    THE WS6 THAT COULD
12's are pretty easy to get. i would focus more on improving drag skills then adding more mods. with just a Lid and Exhaust I went 13.027 @ 106 on street tires so its all about the driving.

That MPH is more than enough to support a 12 second slip, it's all about the 60 foot.

I would go with more stall but that's me. I have a customer that we did the following mods and it runs 12.2 @ 110.
    Car 01'SS
    Slp Maf
    Pace setter headers
    True dual exh.
    Lid
    Mickey dragradials
    Fuddle 3600
    and a custom tune
The car is pretty consistant and usually goes 12.2 to 12.4 depending on traction. Even with less stall, the gears should really help you out.Just need tracion.

Mine is also an auto and I have gone 104 mph with no bolts ons. My trap speed supports a high 12 second run as well with a good 60, but there are some bolt ons I want to try before I worry about that.

Thats pretty good considering no camshaft and stock gears? Correct? Of course you are nearly at sea level down there in Daytona

Lid, k&n filter cut-out eagle rsa's on a good track with decent air = 12.80s to 12.90s all day long on 1.91 to 1.99 60fts. then got a tune and saw a few 70s in cool air. now have a vig 3200 converter and running 12.40s still searching for traction on nittos.

And you've got the EXACT same car and in Jersey too...maybe I've got a shot.

I pulled 1.90's at Englishtown my first time ever at the track with my old Z, not bragging, cuz that's not all that good considering I had BFG drag radials, but still...for my first time EVER at the track it wasn't half bad. Espescially considering I was nervous as f*ck and didn't stall it as high as I could have.

My times were damn consistant too, 3x I ran 13.3's and when I figured out how to calm my nerves(Metallica full blast on the CD player), I ran 13.24@104. I should be able to answer my own question having had that car but I don't know what was actually done to it(bought it from a friend who likes to "exaggerate" a bit).

Maybe I'll kick ass this time around...just need my Predator airbrushed Simpson helmet and some good motivational music!

Yea man you can do it.....but i just thought of something......do u have 2.73 or 3.23 gears.......it makes a big difference on a stocker! Youre trap speed is a little low should be around 106. you might have 2.73s i have seen guys run almost 3-4 tenths slower.

That's what's gonna kill me...I looked up the RPO's the day I got it and it's got 273. I'm probably going to go to either 3:42 or 3:73's as one of my first mods, right after welded subframes. I wanted 3:42's for best gas mileage but everyone keeps saying if I'm gonna do it I might as well go 3:73.

Oh, and the 105 was my old car(just checked my slips, it was 105 not 104). I think it had more in it but I didn't really push it to full potential. I think I stalled it to 2k at the tree. It supposedly had 3:73's, 2400 converter, HPP3, free mods, BFG D/R's, cut out, loud mouth, and SS ram air hood.

The new car hasn't ran yet.

Ahhhhhhh thats what the difference is then, your car runs real strong then. If you had 3.23s guaranteed you' d be running my times easily. Hey good luck maybe catch ya up at englishtown one day or come down to atco.
