    First time at the track...

I went to the track on sunday and raced my Formula for the first time.

My first run was actually my best, as the day got warmer I started having trouble hooking, and had to launch really soft to get off the line w/out smoking the tires.

    R/T .451
    60' 2.121
    1/8 8.97 @ 80.71MPH
    1/4 13.73 @ 103.44

For some reason I hooked really well on this launch, I left off idle and floored it. R/T needs work though.

Car is stock except for a SLP lid, the FTRA was blocked off for this run. I opened it for the rest of my runs, I was trying to see if it actually helped, but then I started having traction problems so I can't tell if it helped at all.

Rest of the specs... A4, 2.73's, 85k miles, 275/40 all seasons with 32psi.

I was going to do a catback, but I'm going to invest in some better rubber, and see if I can improve on the launch and 60'.

I'm actually happy with the 13.7 though....I had no idea what the car would run, it's definitely nice to be in the 13's, where I thought it should be. It was a pleasant surprise when the lady handed me the timeslip.

A set of stickier tires could easily bring you down into the 1.9x range on the 60 ft, and pick you up 2-3 tenths in ET. Best investment you can make if you want to improve your times!

    Good luck!

Good deal. You are correct in remediating the tire situation first so you can better qualtify the results of future modifications and have more fun with less frustration.
