Finally got to run the 1/4 at the ROCK

Went Yesterday to the ROCK in Rockingham and ran the car. My best time of the day was a 12.92 at 111 MPH. I was real happy with the car. The track sucked early on (Almost ate the wall going in to fourth gear and broke loose). Anyway 60 ft time were ok (some 2.0's and (2) 1.90's). There was only 2 other LS1 cars there, a '00 ss that was bone..I mean bone stock. He ran mid 13's. He had a friend there who had a '00 Z28.with a LID, MAF,Ported TB,LT's ORY, Texas Speed Duals.. and Drag Radials. I could not figure out though the guy would run 13's 14's and even 15's at anywhere from 112 to 115 MPH. He was on the rev limiter all day.. in the box and out of the hole. He asked me to drive his car.. so I did..,told him I wasnt responsible if anything happened ..ran a 13.0 at 111.. 2.0 60Ft.. his cars best time. the next run I got my car a raced him.. took him about 2 cars out of the hole stayed that way until about half track and then he dissapeared?? Got back to the pits 15 minutes later he pulls up and his car sounds like it was missing.. SES light was flashing (NOT GOOD). We checked his car.. reset the PCM and started it back, figured maybe it was because he was on the rev limiter all morning.. The car ran rough and then "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" blink blink blink!!.. Only thing we could figure was he either blew a Head gasket or lost a cylinder (dropped valve).. But there was no knocking etc no smoke.. good oil pressure, no water in oil.. not running hot.. just missing.. Anyone got any ideas?

Hell, I kinda felt bad that it blew on him especially after the run I drove it.. Should I feel bad? I did get him his best time.. any advise?

Anyway glad the weather held out and we all had a good time!

PS there was a Bad ass Grand Prix GTP there with a 3800 V6 running mid and low 11s...

Dang that sucks for him, especially since his car was soo close to running 12's. Just goes to show that you should only be the one to break your own car. Irregardless, nice times.

Stock.. Save for a Lid,K&N, B&B exhaust, free mods, gutted cats. I did just have a cutout put on it..didnt seem to help though.

I did remove the sway bars while I was there and ran 18lbs of pressure in the rear tires.

I do have a LS-6 Block form the factory, but I dont htink it helps on the HP.

Just drive the hell out of it..

    Anyways thanks for the reply

    is it a M6 or A4?

When I went out in my A4 best I was able to pull was 13.09, just have SLP catback, sub frames, K&N and free mods. Just curious about the tranny M6 come with slightly steeper gears.

Anyway nice times. Sorry about your friends car.

Here's to the 1/4 mile tracks that are stayin around

    yep 3.42's

I have heard that the LS-6 Blocks are weaker too. anyway not really planning on doing too much to the car, I have only had it since August. I like having good power..can waste a lot of the cars on the road, and still listen to the radio and turn on the A/C..

Any day at the ROCK is a good day. Up North they have no CheerWine and you need a helmet. Nice times for your mods.
