Bad Time At The Track
I took my 1998 Trans Am to the track yesterday to see what it would run just for the heck of it. What I didn't realize was how slow it would be, although I have a 4.70 Super Quick Dragster so anything really feels slow. LOL
The car is a completely stock A4 (with ram air hood) other than a K&N FIPK system. I do have 18" wheels on the car, so I realize that is going to slow me down some. I left the line about 1500 rpm after a mild burnout. It pulled hard until 3rd gear where it felt like it sort of fell on it's face. I had the traction control turned off and didn't spin also.
60ft - 2.078
660ft - 9.211
MPH - 77.89
Any tips or performance upgrades (that aren't too radical or expensive as it is my daily driver) to make this any faster? This just seems really slow to me compared to what I've read and was expecting at least 8s...Last edited by Christopher387A; 07-23-2006 at 07:07 PM.

Hmm, sounds to me like your car is pulling timing, which is common for cars with high mileage and old plugs/wires. I'd do a major tune up if I were you. I had the plugs changed on my car, and it made a world of difference. Your trap speed in the 1/8th mile should be around 81-83mph. Then again I dunno what altitude your track is at.
Nice 60' btw.

All right, I'll look around on here for some places to get a tune up. I'll definitely get the plugs changed (I heard they'e a pain LOL) and maybe some plug wires if I need them.
The corrected density altitude according to our weather station when I ran was a little over 2000 ft, which isn't bad for around here.

With that DA you should still be seeing atleast an 80-81mph trap. Something is amiss with your car. Please post what fixes the problem, so that others can reflect back on this thread.
