1/4 Question
i gotta ws6 makeing near 420 rwhp and went to the track the other day and only went 13.2 @ 110 the car went 13.0 @107 stock
the 60`s was shitty 2.3`s 2.4`s all night
on a street tire and stock gears 3.42`s.. the cams a 228.228.581.581 112 lsa
it`s a lil lazy in 1st in lower rpm but when it gets in the higher rpms
but even with thous 60`s it shoulda went 12`s right?the cars lazy till about 3500 4500 rpms.. i know theres more then enufgh power for mid to low 11`s with tire ..
i know the car needs the gear.. but souldent it go faster then that with all the power..
with the right Suspension gear tire the car should go 10`s ? right?Last edited by Adam_WS6_; 10-04-2008 at 01:33 AM.

Theres alot of variables when it comes to the track. I would say 420wrhp should proally go low 12s all day.

Your trap speeds seem kinda weak for the mods and for being a M6, Im getting that with a "crappy" auto, hotcam and mac mids....lol

Keep making passes! Practice is sometimes better than adding HP. My 01 WS6 with nothing more than ,
a lid and filter
mac headers with the stock cat back
a translator
TTII wheels
The car made 351RWHP and ran 12.4 @114 @ Rockingham and I did this on regular radials, Not drag radials.
Just keep making passes and keep track of your splits and how you drove the car. You will be shocked at how much you pickup just by learning the car and how to drive it.
Good luck.

sounds like you need to put a tune in the car

Those 60 ft times look like tire spin or clutch slippage maybe? gears will help alot with that cam

MPH is best indicator of hp. Wheel spin and 60 foot have very little effect on mph. That mph sounds slow for 420rwhp.

Get you some Mickey Thompson DR for the rears. That will help your 60' and your 1/4 mile time. Lower gears will help you too. I was running 12.7 in a quarter mile with street tires and stock gears. I put in 3.73 gears and MT DR's on the rear and now it runs 11.5 in the quarter.

You might want to check the car out. With 420rwhp you should be traping better than 110mph... even if you screw up the launch. I've seen bolt on LS1s that trap that.

Could be weather related, maybe your WOT AFR wasn't suited for the conditions.
Your ET is right on the money for that MPH combined with that 60 foot. With a better 60 foot that MPH would get you in the low 12's easily.
My wifes 2000 SS 6 speed just has headers,,,and a small Z06 camshaft with a tighter 112 lobe sep....still running stock gears as well and it went 13.15 at 110 mph with similar 2.23 60 foot. Thats with a tune I am still working on and the DA was 1900 feet. Not a perfect tune but runs decent,,,I also crossed the finish line in 3rd gear. Car is good for bottom 12's yet I know it won't make the RWHP you are claiming.

I dont know your track experience, but in my M6 with the same gears as far as I know, im goin through at the top of fourth. Are you sure your not letting off early. the first track I raced at had lines at the 1000ft mark and I kept letting off early, I was very disapointed with my first few runs.

Even a stock LS1 6-speed and stock 3.42 gears wouldn't pass through the 1/4 mile traps at the top of 4th. That would mean you are crossing in 4th around 6,000 rpms.
When our other 6 speed car was bone stock,,,I would have to shift into 4th at about the 1000 foot mark and would cross the finish line at only about 4,500 rpms. I was shifting around 6,000 and just couldn't stretch 3rd gear that far to the finish line. It needed more gear, even stock engines benefit from a rear gear change.
Our current 6 speed has a smallish cam and valve train that allows 63-6400 rpm shifts, and with the 3.42's I can just stretch 3rd to the finish line and barely bump the rev limiter set at 6,500. For optimum 1/4 mile performance this car needs a gear in the worst way.

Sorry, middleish of fourth. I never tried to stretch 3rd that far, didnt think it would make it.

It wouldn't if you are running a stockish motor (stock camshaft) and only 3.42 gears. RPM limiter is set to around 6200 on a stock LS1, that just won't quite get you there in 3rd gear. Not to mention a stock LS1 doesn't make power up there anyway.
I didn't quite make it myself with shiftpoints at 63-6400 and the rev limit at 6500. It bumped the limiter 3-4 times in 3rd as I crossed the stripe.
Didn't yield me anything other than killing the trap speed a bit. Shifting to 4th right at the finish line doesn't help either really. Thought I would give it a try though.
