    01 SS vs. 01 Bullitt

Ok, just got my SS. Its a m6 and is stock except for a mild cam judging from the lope and flowmaster catback.

My best friend has a 01 Bullitt with tri-ax shifter, 3.73 gears, a programmer, and cold air intake.

Who's faster in a straight line?

Cammed SS > gears/intake Bullitt if you can launch it

Are you sure it's cammed? Judging by your post you are not positive?

just wonderin how are they slower than gts? they dont have a ridiculous body kit or any extra weight. they are pretty much the same car. the Bullitt has a different appearance package, exhaust, wheels, and has been slightly lowered.

And the Bullitt intake, SFC's amongst some other small things. They're usually about a tenth or so quicker than a stock GT. Not much of a difference.

    exactly

"The heart of Bullitt GT is a 4.6L SOHC V8 - modified to improve airflow - producing at least 270 horsepower and significantly more torque than the Mustang GT engine. Modifications include twin 57 mm bore throttle body; cast aluminum intake manifold, high flow mufflers for increased power and aggressive sound and optimized alternator and pump pulley ratios. "

The Bullitts had no extra weight, and they were infact slightly quicker than the GT's overall.

    The SS wins this one.

As for the other race -- it all depends on the mods to the Trans Am. :-)

Get a damn tune and find if you have a cam, it's a crap shoot otherwise and anways you should want to know what you have in there.

If you were 100% stock with a m6 and he had his current mods it would be a close race.... Other than that you shouldn't have a problem. My best friend has a Bullitt as well, he is running 3.73 gears, a programmer for the bullitt, has some exhaust work done, a H pipe or X pipe whatever lol. But with his street tires he would run 14.1-14.2. He put on some Nitto DR's and took him a few passes but he has got seeral 13.6's.. But my car has full exhaust a lid, with 4.10s. From any roll I will pull on him, from a stop he can get me out of the hole with his radials.. but I reel him in at the top of 2nd. Anyways you should still have him.. Our last race at the track was like this.

    He ran 13.664 @101 with 1.9XX 60'

    I ran 12.990 @111 with 2.0XX 60'

Of course my car is not stock. but not that modified either

If an LS1 driver knows how to "really" drive it won't be a close race, not even with the Bullitt having those mods. Maybe close for the average driver, but not a skilled one. No way.

well guys...my buddy just dyno'd his bullitt and after some tweaking, is getting 310/364 at the wheels...so apparantly there has been some modification to his car that he was unaware of. This changes the outcome a bit I would say. All the more reason to start upgrading the SS

310/364...hmmm...wonder what's giving him so much torque?
