I would actually just take the stockers and strip off the clear coat. They will shine MUCH better, but be more work.

    Polished aluminum > chrome

Thanks Luos, there is a company at home here at suposidally fixes/refinishes rims as good or better than the manufacturer. So I think i will try that and see how he can make it shine. He said aroud $80 a rim soo time will tell

its a fair amount of work but not too bad. . .prob spend about an hour or two stripping. . then i spend about 30min total a wheel wet sanding and polishing. . but i take a lot of breaks so it takes me a whole day or more lol

I would think because youre taking off the clear coat that they would be unprotected against the elements, so how often do you have to keep polishing them?

well to maintain shine, you will need to clean them every few weeks (I recommend using cleaner specificly for aluminum), which is just a spray on and wash off process. And polishings are prob required about 2-5 times a year, depending on how much you drive the car and how often/well you clean the wheels. But whats awesome about is aluminum, is that you can almost always bring back that shine. Last year, I drove my car all winter with these wheels, and they looked horrible about this time last year. But after a day of wetsanding and polishing, they looked good as new.

also there are products like zoop seal, which i have never used, that can help protect your bare aluminum
