What Wheels/Tires to use for traction?

I have a 2000 z28 M6 with some mods and put out 402 hp. In hard accelerations I just burn tire through first and early second gear. I have 16" wheels and Cooper Zeon ZPTs. Its a really wide tire but I need something that will give me alot more grip in a first gear acceleration. What has worked for some of you?

I love Mickey Thompson ET Streets. Theres two versions, Ive only tried the first. Its a tire you can drive on the street, to the track, and net some great 60's with.

Cons - They wear very fast, dont like to be spun on dry pavement at all, and I dont like them in the high speed corning compared to others.

If you dont want a tire that is going to last just a few thousand miles, Nitto 555R's are a decent tire as well.

If your lookinf for DD sitcky tires I hate to say it stop looking. I have ran Nitto's and while good dont the best 60'. Now ET Streets get a good 60'. But both have the same issue they will not last long. If I want to hook Hooser's slicks and not DOT ones full race. But you can not DD slick's. If I am in cruise or DD mode I run ZR Ulra Sessanta Vredestein tires. Do the hook nope but I am just daily driving. I like to play around before and after the track and will roll on the skinnies and slicks. Heck did a Christmas Parade on the skinnys and slicks. Crowd kept asking me to lite them up. But I was not about to..

I am not planning any trips to the track so i am in the market for some DD tires but ones that will give SOME traction in a hard 1st acceleration ( i have little to none now) . I dont want to replace them every 5k either ( unless i burn them off.... then its my fault!). Just a good tire that will have some bite.

Do you drive your car all year round? If so, I would not get a DR....they suck in the rain, and cold weather. If you only drive your car in the summer then using a DR is okay.
