What is the best tire size for 18/9.5 on the front of 98 t/a would a 275/35/18 be good ? Off set is 38 mm

It should fit, but i'd recommend something smaller. The car will track better with smaller tire up front.

275/35-18 is approximately the same height as stock 245/50-16's or 275/40-17 so you won't need to make any computer adjustments for the speedo. I personally wouldn't stagger front to back because you can't rotate F-R, and tires that big are too expensive to have uneven wear. The other thing to think about is a 35 series aspect ratio on a 275 section width tire isn't a lot of sidewall to soak up potholes. Ride quality will suffer a bit. That might be tolerable it might not. You could also look at keeping the 40 series with 275 width in 18's and have an inch taller tire to fill the wheelwell. But you'd have to adjust the speedo.

Tire width varies from company to company. Ones 265 might be another's 275. Tirerack has the dimensions listed but general rule of thumb you should be good.

If you are that concerned with the tracking a wider tire will give you increase the caster. My car is no less touchy with 245's and 275's, a proper alignment makes a world of difference.

I swap out winter rims and tires before storage, I'll drive it in the fall and spring with 245/45/16s? i think...

and it tracks much better than the 275/35/17s
