Tire/wheel question
Hello all, first let me start off by saying I'm new to this site as a member but have been always checking it out to gain ideas and such from all you guys, really enjoy this site. Anyway, I have a 1998 Pontiac trans am non WS.6 and am looking for some new tires. I want to run Torque Thrust II's with the size being 17X9.5 on 275-40-17 tire. Was concerned if that would rub at all since that size is bigger than the stock size. If you own or have owned this type of tire/rim package, your input and recommended specs would be appreciated!

I may be wrong, but I believe the stock tire size on our '02 is 275/40-17. Should fit, but you will want to be sure about the backspacing.

Yeah I realize the WS.6 versions are stock with the 275's but mine came with the 245's so just making sure. Just gotta figure out the backspacing then.

That'd be nice, and that's fine whenever you have the chance to. It'd help me out a bit. It's just sitting in the garage for winter looking pretty anyway so no rush haha. Thanks!

Stock 16x8 wheels have a 56mm offset the WS6/SS 17x9 wheels have a 50mm offset.
You need to stay close to the 50mm offset to avoid rubbing issueswith a 9.5" wide wheel, so generally anything between 45-50mm should be fine. And if I remember correctly the TT II are around 48mm.Craig
